In a baffling incident reported from Haryana, a man was found responsible for stealing entire town’s bicycles. The police recovered as many as 62 bicycles from the man. The incident was reported from Panchkula in Haryana, and the arrest was made earlier this month.
The accused was identified as 32-year-old Ravi Kumar, a resident of Majri village. The accused is originally a resident of Meherban Harkrishna Vihar Colony in Ludhiana. As per reports, Ravi alias Varun, was responsible for almost every bicycle theft that was reported lately. After a long crime spree, he was caught thanks to CCTV footage and other technical evidences.
According to a police officer, who spoke to media being anonymous, the accused simply walked around different sectors of the city, and stole bicycles. Some of these bicycles costed as high as Rs 20,000, and the accused used to sell them for Rs 2,000 to make ends meet for his drug problem.
Earlier on September 14, he stole another bicycle worth Rs 15,000 from Sector 26, and on September 18, he was arrested and 62 bicycles were recovered from him.
As per police, the accused had been working for a private firm, and had gotten addicted to drugs which led to him being fired. To fund his drug habit, he moved to Panchkula and started stealing bicycles.
