Jerusalem: A cave dating back to the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II of Egypt has been discovered in Israel. Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) announced on Sunday the discovery of a buried cave dating back to the reign of Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II, which was found to be filled with dozens of earthen utensils of various shapes and sizes and bronze artifacts.
According to Israeli and international media, the experts came to know about the presence of this cave last Tuesday on the coast when an earth-digging machine hit the roof of the cave in Palmachim National Park, just south of Tel Aviv. Upon investigating, archaeologists found an ancient man-made square-shaped cave. They used a ladder to descend in the 3300 years old cave.

Pharaoh Ramses II was an Egyptian king who died in 1213 BC. Archaeologists found bowls (red in color), bones, water troughs, cooking utensils, storage jars, lamps and bronze arrowheads in the cave.
Eli Yannai, an expert in the bronze era, says that these items were kept with the dead at the time of burial. A human skeleton has also been found in the cave. According to him, this cave presents a complete picture of burial customs in the Late Bronze Age. It is assumed that people who had died were buried inside the cave along with their belongings, as it was a custom in many ancient societies.
Experts termed this as an extremely rare discovery and one-in-a-lifetime incident. The cave hasn’t been touched in 3,300 years. It has been discovered for the first time in the lifetime since its construction, which had remained closed since its creation.
The pharaoh whom these monuments date to had a long reign and control over Canaan, an area that included modern-day Israel and all of Palestine. The cave has now been resealed and is being guarded.

And none obeyed Moses save some youths from among his people, because of the fear of Pharaoh and their chiefs, lest he should persecute them. And of a truth, Pharaoh was a tyrant in the land and surely he was of the transgressors. (10:84) (20:80) (23:47)
More than 1500 years after the Pharaoh’s death the Holy Quran prophesized that Pharaoh’s body has been saved.
“We brought the Children of Israel across the sea and Pharaoh and his troops pursued them out of tyranny and enmity. Then, when he was on the point of drowning, he (Pharaoh) said, I believe that there is no god but Him in whom the Children of Israel believe. I am of those who submit to God. What! Now! And indeed you disobeyed before and you were of the mischief-makers. This day shall We save you in your body, that you may be a Sign to those who come after you! But indeed, many among mankind are neglectful of Our Signs.” (Al Quran 10:90-92)
In the 19th century, the prophecy of the Holy Quran became fulfilled when Pharaoh’s mummy was discovered.
