Ayodhya: In a strange incident, a young monk in Ayodhya cut off his right palm at the wrist as part of a Durga Puja ritual.
According to the police, 32-year-old seer Vimal Kumar dressed in new clothes after taking a holy bath in the Sarayu river and later cut his palms on the banks of the river.
He was taken to Shri Ram Government Hospital. Vimal Kumar hails from Araria district of Bihar.
According to the locals, this act of the monk was part of ‘Good Shastra’ and they believed that after this they would gain supernatural powers.
