The 20-20 World Cup 2022 came to an end on 13 November at the MCG. England came out victorious by five wickets over England. Thus, they managed to win the World Cup for the second time in their history. Now, the next edition of the 20-20 World Cup will happen in 2024 in West Indies and the USA.

However, reports are suggesting that big changes are going to happen in the format of the tournament for the next edition. A total number of 20 teams will participate in the 2024 edition. Four groups will be there consisting of five teams each.

Both West Indies and the USA have qualified automatically for being the host nations of the 20-20 World Cup 2024

From those four groups, the top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8, the second round. Then, in that round, all teams will divide into two groups, consisting of four teams each. The top two teams from each Super 8 group will advance to the semi-final after which the final will take place. In the 2022 edition, teams played qualifiers and book their place in the Super 12 stage. Two groups were there consisting of six teams.

From there, the top two teams from each group qualified for the semi-finals. But, in the next edition, both West Indies and the USA have qualified automatically for being the host nations. The remaining 10 of the 18 teams were determined after the World Cup 2022 and a deadline of November 14. These teams are Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.

Now, the rest of the eight teams will be confirmed through regional qualifiers. Two teams each will qualify from Europe, Africa, and Asia region. One team each will qualify. from America and East Asia Pacific region. However, England will begin that 20-20 World Cup as the defending champions. While West Indies might look to do well in that edition being the host nation. In the 2022 edition, they even failed to qualify for the Super 12 stage.
