Mumbai: Salman Khan's security gets upgraded to Y+ category amid threats from Lawrence Bishnoi gang

The Maharashtra government has upgraded Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's security to the Y+ category after the actor received death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang a few months ago.

According to ANI, the Mumbai Police will provide Y+ security cover to the actor, an official from the Maharashtra police department said. This means that he will now have four armed personnel with him at all times.

Until now, Salman was provided with a regular police protection by the Mumbai Police.

Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher too will now be provided with X-category security.

In June, Salman and his father Salim Khan had received a threat letter from Lawrence Bishnoi gang, stating that the superstar too will face a similar fate like murdered Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

The Mumbai Police had then arrested several members of the gang who had confessed to targetting Salman and even doing a recce of his house in a bid to kill him.

As for Akshay Kumar, he has been provided the security over the constant threats that he has been receiving on social media owing to his nationality.

Anupam Kher was on the receiving end of a slew of life threats after the veteran actor starred in Vivek Agnihotri's 'The Kashmir Files'.
