In ongoing development pertaining to the Turkey Earthquake, videos have surfaced showing multiple building collapsing like house of cards as a 7.8 magnitude quake killed over 100 people in the country and its neighbouring countries, with the death toll expected to rise as the search and rescue operation intensifies. According to reports, the earthquake, which was reported as 7.9 on the Richter scale, was the deadliest ever reported from Turkey.
The impact of the earthquake was such that its tremors were felt across Turkey, Syria, Cyprus and even Lebanon. As many as 76 people were reported dead from the seven provinces across Turkey while the death toll reported from Syria stood at 96, with the total death toll reported as somewhere over 195 with the numbers expected to be more.
The quakes shook the country and its nearby provinces earlier on a snowy evening, and triggered a massive collapse of dozens of buildings. As per the authorities, at least 440 people have been injured so far. Such was the intensity of the quake, that locals were subjected to 6 aftershock. Interior Minister also issued an advisory, asking people to not enter damaged buildings due to the risks of it collapsing completely.
“We hope that we will get through this disaster together as soon as possible and with the least damage,” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

What Do the Videos Show
In one of the videos taken from inside a supermarket, one can see that the products kept on the shelves have fallen down on the floor.
In another video taken inside a house, one can see the residents shouting and scrambling in panic, and pointing the camera at a wall, showing the large cracks that have developed due to the 7.8 magnitude earthquake.
In a separate video reported from Turkey’s Diyarbakir, a bulding can be seen collapsing in seconds due to the aftershock of the earthquake. The barely 8-second video shows the devastation caused by the quake, as a large building collapses into a pile of rubble, debris and dust.
The devastation caused by the earthquake was deadliest ever reported from Turkey. In a video shared by BNO News, an entire neighbourhood in South Turkey can be seen having been reduced into a pile of concrete and dust. The video shows a small site with several buildings that have collapsed in the earthquake.
In a heartbreaking video, a survivor can be seen being stuck under the pile of concrete, dust and debris. The survivor appears to be pulled out of the collapsed building.
According to reports, the tremors of the shocking earthquake was felt across the entire Turkish capital – which was a shocking 460 km away from the actual epicentre. Following the devastating impact, the Turkish government has raised a “level 4 alarm” seeking international assistance.

India, US Assures Support and Assistance
In the wake of Turkey raising a level 4 alarm, the Indian government, led by PM Modi, assured support and assistance to the earthquake-devastated country. “India stands in solidarity with the people of Turkey and is ready to offer all possible assistance to cope with this tragedy,” PM Modi said in a tweet.
“We stand ready to provide any and all needed assistance. President Biden has directed USAID and other federal government partners to assess U.S. response options to help those most affected,” the US White House stated in its statement.
